Join the Chicago Area Adobe User Group on third Monday of every month at Ascend. The topic will be announced this week. This free event will be held at the Ascend Chicago Loop location at 410 S. Michigan Avenue. Networking and pizza begin at 5:30, presentation begins at 6:30. The AUG meetings are a great way to network with fellow Adobe users and learn from the top professionals in the industry.

Topics such as lighting, sophisticated material techniques, animation, special effects, and more will be covered in depth as the class explores the powerful Autodesk 3ds MAX application.
Autodesk 3ds Max is one of the most powerful and sophisticated applications available for character animation on a professional level. Students will learn the ins and outs of bipedal character creation, rigging, and complex animation techniques along with 3ds Max's innovative Bones System. Custom rigging will also be covered, allowing students the opportunity to create and animate multi-legged creatures!
Current AutoCAD or Autodesk Land Desktop users will get up to speed very quickly in Auotdesk's Maya Modeling, lighting and rendering features. This class provides a strong foundation for students in this exceptional application. Students learn to navigate in 3D space and best practices in polygon modeling. Extensive exercises using lighting, shading, cameras will also be included in the class. Using Keystrokes in Maya's complex interactivity and layered functionality will also be covered.
This Advanced Maya course is designed for those currently using Maya and want to elevate their skills to the professional level. Students in this Advanced Maya class will learn about the Maya vector render engine, the Maya Vvector Render engine, mapping color ramps, advanced shadow techniques and the Blend Colors features. Mental ray shaders, 3-point lighting, and depth of field will also be covered in depth.
Learn how to use Autodesk Combustion including Combustion workflow, Paint, Text, Color Correction, and Particle Systems. This comprehensive course will enable you to use the unified composting and paint features. Students explore animation, using the Timeline, liking and controlling layers, and multi-point tracking.
Learn to create 2D and 3D images with Autodesk's AutoCAD. Understand practical applications to create and mange drawings, configure settings, work with text and adding dimensions. In part 2 of this class, students work with the more integral parts of the application such as accurate positioning, parametric drawing and output. This class covers parts required to pass the AutoCad Certified User Exam.
Students who wish to gain greater skill with and insight into the more powerful and advanced features of Autodesk Autocad will find this 4-day workshop to be a comprehensive and thorough overview. Many of the new, advanced and updated features of this sophisticated software will be covered in this class, including Action Reorder, new annotation tools, the Ribbon interface, and more. Learn to define attributes, blocks, and more, as well as draw using complex objects in this workshop.
Take the plunge from 2D authoring and creation to 3D in this 3-day workshop! Students will explore the history of 3D space and the graphic industry's growing affinity for and functionality with it. With a background in Autodesk Inventor's Solid Modeling and Part Modeling tools, Students in this 3-day course will get a thorough, guided exploration of the more advanced and sophisticated assembly utilities of Inventor. Students can create an extremely specific and professional set of construction documents and designs with Inventor's Modeling tools, and will explore Positional Representations, Top-Down design, iMates and iAssemblies, and more.
Students who want a thorough overview of the specific Metal Modeling tools in Autodesk Inventor and an exploration of the sequencing of Inventor's design stages will find both in this 2-day workshop. Sheet metal modeling being a precise process, students will have the opportunity to go through the step-by-step production of professional sheet metal part production, editing, and flat pattern creation.
Students in this 3-day workshop will get a thorough, entry-level overview of Revit Architecture 2009 by Autodesk. Students in this class will explore the XSI tools of the Softimage applications. Non-linear animation tools and best practices will be covered over five days as students are immersed in Softimage's XSI using hands-on exercises and real-world examples as well as the latest technological updates in editing available.
