Since 1998, we have offered the highest quality training for those in the creative and development communities. When learning Adobe Flash, we feel a more individualized training experience is vital, whether online or at our facility. All our instructors are Adobe Certified, and top professionals in their field.
*Ascend Training has no information regarding the release date of Flash Catalyst CS5 or any other Creative Suite CS5 Application. All information on this page is available on the Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5 Public Beta Site. We will offer Flash Catalyst CS5 classes as soon as it is released by Adobe.

Ascend offers small classes in Adobe CS3, Avid and Quark classes in both locations. All classes are taught by top industry professionals in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Flash.

Adobe Flash CS4 Level 1: Rich Content Creation
Adobe Flash CS4 Level 1: Rich Content Creation is an introductory course for designers and budding developers new to the Flash environment, or those that have not had formal training. Students will produce an engaging Flash interface using text, graphics, animations, video, and sound. User interactions are added using built in Flash ActionScript behaviors and Script Assist. Students will leave this class with the ability to create and incorporate web animations.
Adobe Flash CS4 Level 2: Actionscript 3.0
Adobe Flash CS4 Level 2: ActionScript 3.0 provides experienced Flash designers with the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to create dynamically generated event-driven animation and interactive games with Flash. The course teaches fundamental programming techniques. It begins by introducing new CS4 Features and core concepts including instance names, variables, functions, properties, and methods, then proceeds through conditions, loops, event handling, and animating with ActionScript.

Adobe Flash CS4 Level 2: ActionScript 3.0 provides experienced Flash designers with the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to create dynamically generated event-driven animation and interactive games with Flash. It begins by introducing new CS4 Features and core concepts including instance names, variables, functions, properties, and methods, then proceeds through conditions, loops, event handling, and animating with ActionScript.
Online, Interactive Training
Online: Adobe Flash, Level 1
This online class is for those who want to create innovative online animations. Students learn to create engaging animated SWF files and incorporate interactivity using ScriptAssist. File formats like .flv and .fla, animation, tweens, instances, scripting and more are covered. Students that take this online class receive a $150 credit toward any hands-on classes at Ascend.
Online: Adobe Flash, Level 2
This online class is for those who are experienced in Flash and want to learn to add interactivity using Actionscript 3.0. We use a step-by-step method to teach the incorporation of Actionscript into Flash projects. Students learn to use the Actionscript 3.0 language, plus animation, tweens, instances, scripting, and building applications. Students who take this online class receive a $150 credit toward any hands-on class at Ascend.
Hands-on, Live, 1-Day Classroom Training
Adobe Flash Quickstart Training: 1 Day Flash CS4 Introductory
This 1 day Quickstart class will cover the main concepts of web animation
in Flash CS4. This one day beginners' course, focuses on how Flash works,
and editing and creating basic animations. We also work with
text, creating navigation systems. Students taking this class have a 50% credit
towards the more indepth 3 day InDesign Level 1 workshop.
Adobe Flash Quickstart Training: Moving to Actionscript 3.0 QuickStart
Moving to ActionScript 3.0 is a one-day course for those with a background in object-oriented programming in a Flash environment. To take this class you should have an intermediate level of familiarity with the Flash Authoring environment and ActionScript 2.0. Perfect for those coming from a ColdFusion or JavaScripting environment.
Upcoming Adobe Flash CS5 Classes
Hands-on, Live, Multi-Day Classroom Training
Ascend Training will offer classes in Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Flash CS5, Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, Adobe Illustrator CS5, Adobe InDesign CS5, Adobe Premiere CS5, Adobe InCopy CS5 and the entire Adobe Creative Suite. No release date has been set by Adobe.
When released, Ascend Training will offer clases in: Adobe Dremweaver CS5 Classes, Adobe Flash CS5 Classes, Adobe InDesign CS5 Classes, Adobe Photoshop CS5 Classes, Adobe Illustrator CS5 Classes, Adobe Bridge CS5 Classes and the entire Creative Suite 5 when it is released. Ascend has no information on release dates, or if Adobe is planning to continue the Creative Suite past version CS4.

Adobe Flash CS5 Level 3: Advanced Actionscript 3.0
This advanced Flash class is for current Flash designers with ActionScript experience. Students must be active Actionscript developers with a minimum of 1 year developing experience. Students will find that the Advanced Adobe Flash Actionscript course provides the knowledge and hands-on practice required to build more flexible and dynamic design-based Flash pieces. This course focuses on teaching students more advanced ActionScript topics that removes their reliance on timeline-based visual tools.
About Flash CS4
The Flash video exporter has new features which improve the ease of creating and manipulating video in Flash. These features include deinterlacing right in the exporter and better file management and customization. Flash CS4 has motion export, which you can use across projects or import into Flex Builder 3. When creating motion tweens in Flash CS4, you can right click on an asset, copy the motion, and then apply it to other assets on the stage, or even objects in other projects!
With Flash CS4, you can import Photoshop .psd files and Illustrator .ai files and preserve the layers, then edit them locally in Adobe Flash CS4. Flash also now lets you customize the files during import with advanced import options.
You'll definitely be able to save time with the new ActionScript 3.0 which features better performance, more flexibility, and more intuitive and structured development.
When creating animations, you can convert timeline animations directly into AS3.0 code that can be edited, reused, and sampled. You can now even copy animations to apply to one object from another!

We currently offer all CS4 classes, but will offer Adobe CS5 and CS6 classes upon release by Adobe. This includes Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Flash CS5, Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, Adobe InDesign CS5, Adobe Illustrator CS6 and all Adobe future upgrades. Adobe has not announced any dates for any future upgrades.
