Chicago Area Adobe User Group: Third Mondays
Join the Chicago Area Adobe User Group on third Monday of every month at Ascend. The topic will be announced this week. This free event will be held at the Ascend Chicago Loop location at 410 S. Michigan Avenue. Networking and pizza begin at 5:30, presentation begins at 6:30. Introduction to Apple Final Cut Pro 7: FCP 100
This is a two-day course introducing students to the Final Cut Pro main features set and basic interface. Students will learn to perform basic editing functions while getting exposure to the user interface. Topics include basic setup, adjusting and customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, various methods to edit and trim, as well as the Ripple, Roll, Slip and Slide tools, finishing, and final output. This course is predicated on the FCP 101: An Introduction to Final Cut Pro course. Students pursuing certification may prefer to attend either an FCP 101, FCP 102, FCP 200 or FCP 250 course.
Apple Final Cut Pro v.7 Intro: FCP 101
This is a hands-on, 3-day workshop to help students perform editing functions and get comfortable with Final Cut Pro’s UI. Students will cut a scene from a hit television series, create a promotion for the Seaworld documentary “Believe”, and master filters and effects as they edit segments of the international music-creation event “Playing For Change”. Students will mark and edit clips, mix sound, add titles, create transitions, apply filters, and more. The course will include setup, customization of preferences and settings, video and audio capture, editing and trimming techniques, Rippling, Rolling, Slipping, and Sliding tools, audio editing and creation, finishing, and final output.
Apple Final Cut Pro Prime Time Intro: FCP 102
This is a hands-on class to help students perform simple editing functions and to get comfortable with the Apple Final Cut Pro UI. This course is predicated on FCP 101: An Introduction to Final Cut Pro. This is an evening class, divided into eight 3-hour sessions. Starting with simple video-editing techniques, students will work through Final Cut Pro’s powerful features. Students will mark and edit clips, explore sound mixing, create titles and transitions, use filters, etc. Setup, customization of preferences and settings, video and audio capture, editing and trimming techniques, Rippling, Rolling, Slipping, and Sliding tools, audio editing and creation, finishing, and final output are all covered.

This five-day, comprehensive class explores editing techniques and all the ins and outs of FCP. This class is predicated on FCP 101: An Introduction to Final Cut Pro. Avid Editors’ Final Cut Pro v.7: FCP 250
In this 2-day, hands-on class, students will be introduced to the main features UI of Final Cut Pro. Students who are familiar with the Avid tool set and functions will find that their knowledge will transition well to the Final Cut Pro environment. Students will explore Final Cut Pro editing techniques for: capture, sound, bin and sequence development, Final Cut Pro's extensive array of effects, real time color-correction and hundreds of handy tips, tricks and shortcuts.
Advanced Final Cut Pro v.7 Techniques: FCP 300
This class will teach students over the course of three days how to execute advanced editing and finishing techniques in Final Cut Pro. Students will create effective and professional transitions, repair screen direction errors, complete multi-camera projects, explore nested sequences, implement fabulous effects, use creative filtering, and composite with great skill. Also explored will be advanced media management and film work.
Apple Logic Pro and Logic Express Intro: Logic 101
Learn to use the main feature array and and UI of Apple Logic Pro for audio. MIDI and Audio configurations will be explored and customized by students in order to configure a professionally-arranged studio. Using DSP effects, Loops, and LP's virtual instruments, students will develop a complete song during the class. Learn to arrange, streamline editing, record Audio and MIDI, create and automate commands and shortcuts, and score like a pro!
Advanced Apple Logic Pro Techniques: Logic 301
Students in this 3-day workshop will learn to control sophisticated Logic Pro features. The class will explore creation of a picture score and how to produce, edit, and mix sound. Using LP's impressive arsenal of virtual instruments, including the ground-breaking "Sculpture", Students will be able to improve editing speed, make professional-sounding mixes, streamline their takes and make production run more smoothly than ever.
Apple Soundtrack Pro v.2 Intro: Sound 101
Students in this class will learn advanced audio troubleshooting and repair using the latest audio software tool from Apple, Soundtrack Pro. Subjects such as audio synchronization, sophisticated audio analysis, and professional sound mapping and design will be covered over this 2-day seminar.
Intro to Apple Color: Color 101
Students in this class will learn advanced color correction from an Apple Final Cut prespective. Color-balance, color-correction, grading and vignetting are a few of the topics to be covered in this 2-day seminar. Students will advance into region tracking, sophisticated color effects and adjustment, shot composition, the Law of Thirds, etc, and gain the skills to administer color like a pro!
Intro to Apple Motion v.3
Motion is the newest offering from Apple which will enable students to create and edit sophisticated motion graphics and animations. Over 3 days, students will explore Motion's UI and powerful real time design capabilities, then move on to chroma key techniques, particle system design, masking, 3D, Audio development, parameter behaviors, and more.
Apple Final Cut Studio - Motion Graphics and Effects
Learn to animate in Motion 4 with real time effects. Students explore the Real-Time Design engine, accelerated f ilters, effects and patterns. Blend modes, creating titling sequences, layers and 3D graphics will all be covered in this comprehensive course.

Students in this class can expect a comprehensive overview of Apple's iLife suite covering the principal features and functions. Intro to Apple iWork
This class is for students who wish to have a greater understanding of and facility with Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, the applications that make up Apple's productivity suite iWork. Students will learn to create professional, seamless presentations using Keynote, Apple's answer to Powerpoint. Additionally, the class will cover Pages, Apple's premier word-processing applications, learning its templates, file-managing tools, and ease-of-use attributes, as well as Numbers, the full-featured spreadsheet application which makes up the final third of the suite.
