About Ascend and our Avid XPress Pro Training Classes

*All classes at Ascend begin at 9am and end between 4 and 5pm

Ascend offers outsourced, onsite, hands-on XPress Pro training. Since 1998, we have offered the highest quality classroom training for those in the creative and development communities. When learning Avid XPress Pro, we feel a more individualized training experience is vital. Ascend allows all students enrolled in our published schedule to retake their class for free within 6 months of the first day of the training.

Avid Xpress Pro: Editing # 119

Avid Xpress Pro Editing is an in-depth introduction to the techniques of nonlinear editing on the Avid Xpress Pro system. The class progresses through all the basic phases of creating a sequence on Avid Xpress Pro, including inputting source footage, assembling and trimming sequences, editing audio, creating titles, and outputting a finished program.

Avid Xpress Pro: Intro to Effects #129 Workshop

Introduction to Avid Xpress DV Effects introduces basic effects and is a prerequisite for the 329 Creating Graphics for Avid Xpress DV with Adobe Photoshop course. Topics include: creating multilayered effects, keyframing effects, creating effect templates, and nesting layer.

Avid Color Correction #239 & Avid Graphics & Mattes With Photoshop #210 Workshop

Avid #239: Color Correction:

This course teaches the intermediate user to color correct a sequence in Avid Xpress Pro. You will learn to color correct each shot in a sequence, work with color and luminance safety, create treatments for whole sequences and more.

Avid Xpress Pro #210 - Creating Graphics and Mattes for Avid Editing Systems with Adobe Photoshop

Designed for the advanced Avid Media Composer or Avid Xpress Pro editor, this course demonstrates how to prepare still and moving graphics for import into Avid Media Composer using both SD and HD formats. Class time is divided between demonstration and hands-on-practice. Topics include: preparing and importing graphics, creating and using alpha channels, layers, and matte keys, and using Adobe Photoshop to treat logos and web graphics for use in a video program. Third party packages used in the class include Adobe Photoshop CS. This course is also relevant for Avid Symphony users.
